For twenty years or more dentists have been talking about how the older population has its own unique health issues and concerns that need to be adressed. Those dentist are now the older population.

 

Dental needs as we get older are certainly more varied.  

They are often complicated by the medications  we  need to take.

Some medications will dry the mouth, which can lead to greater decay.

 The patient really benefits by  knowing that his medication makes him cavity prone. Heres a list of medications that can dry out the mouth:

 

Inheriting a fathers practice also meant inheriting his patients.

the greatest  blessing is to have been able to care for so many of my fathers older patients.  

 

So many of my senior patients are full of youth

 and so many young folks come in a little worn by life  for such a young age. 

Geriatrics i is a field of  specialty which still hasn't come into its own. It was suppose to have been the future. and now the future is here.

In a similar vein. I ask those getting a little older. "What are you waiting for."

"Come in,"   "get a cleaning,"
